- Session Spotlight: Qualifying and Benchmarking Your External Manufacturing Providers
- Hi. Welcome to our IBIE 2025 session. My name is Carl Melville. I'm a 28 year industry veteran and founder of TMG. We specialize in food contract manufacturing business relationships. My expertise comes from prior industry leadership roles as an executive and also as an advisor for many of the industry's largest firms. We're also the author of the definitive state of the industry report, now in its 9th edition and the best selling report in the industry. We've also launched COPAC Connect last year, which is an AI powered exchange connecting brands with contract manufacturing resources. We also host COPAC Insider, the industry podcast, and I'm a noted strategist, speaker, and advisor in my other role. So we welcome you to our session, and I hope you can attend. Thank you.
- What topic/trend does this session cover and why is it important?
- Hi. The title of our session is qualifying and benchmarking Your External Manufacturing Providers. We're going to look at the growth prevalence and benefits of these external manufacturing relationships, why they continue to grow significantly faster than the industry they support. And what is driving this? We're going to look at both the benefits and the perils of these relationships, and then we'll take a look at how do we measure their effectiveness, not of the provider, but of the overall relationship, right? Because that's really what matters is that the right partner for you and we'll look at that both as a diagnostic and a predictive tool so you can use it in either case. We're then going to look at some of the best practices for searching for and qualifying new providers, which is part of the business that we're in. We're expecting a diverse and interactive attendee mix and we're hoping that you can be among them. So we'll see you soon. Thank you for considering our program.
- What will attendees learn from this session?
- What will attendees gain from this session? That's a great question. Our aim is for attendees to leave this session with a better understanding of the modern role of contract manufacturing in the bakery supply chain. How can you be maximizing the benefits of these relationships? How can you better diagnose them, perhaps improve them? And what are some of the best practices for seeking new or additional contract manufacturing relationships? You'll also leave the room with tools, downloads, and resources to help you in your quest. So that's just a little bit of what we hope you gain from the session, and we look forward to seeing you and hope you can attend. Thank you.
