- Session Spotlight: Heart Shaped Vintage Cake Decorating
- Hi, I'm Abigail Mattingly, and I'm the owner and cake artist at Bae's Baekery located in Louisville, Kentucky. At just 24 years old, I opened Bae's Baekery with a vision to make Louisville a sweeter place and provide delicious, beautiful sweets. We specialize in jumbo stuffed cookies, hundreds of custom cakes, and a variety of pastries. I also host cake decorating classes each month at the bakery where I can share my knowledge with beginners with skills in vintage cake decorating, fondant work, what. Cakes and everything in between. I pride myself on being an easygoing, fast and fun educator. My mission is to guide other cake artists that are beginning out on their journey, navigate all the challenges they may face, and teach them how to be successful as a cake artist. Whether it's a custom cake or teaching a cake decorating class, I'm committed to ensuring my students or my clients have the best experience possible.
- What topic or trend does this session cover, and why is it important?
- This course covers vintage piping on a heart-shaped cake. The vintage cakes have made a huge comeback on social media from Instagram to TikTok, and of course the Lambeth method is a method that any cake decorator needs to have in their tool kit. The Lambeth method emphasizes over piping and is a method that will withstand the test of time throughout cake decorating and changing trends.
